This item is oversized and ships at a higher cost because it exceeds the dimensions set by USPS and UPS to ship at a standard rate. All packages that exceed 12 inches on any side will ship at a dimensional rate set by the carrier. For this reason, shipping may appear to be excessive, but it really isn't and in many cases, we end up absorbing the additional cost because it is difficult to accurately predict what they will charge until the item is packaged and shipped.
