I used this on occasion when my DVD drive stopped working on one of my computers. I recently got a new computer and no longer need this.
I have tested it and it functions normally with no issues. You will receive the product with a USB.
Simply plug it in to your usb drive, let it go through it's connection process and you're ready to go.
I have tested this on my newer Windows 7 Computer.
I looked around a little and saw another tech site posted it is compatible with Windows or Mac.
Because I don't have a Mac though, I can't personally attest to that.
There is some faint scratching on the top of the unit.
