Thousand Lines Torte Platter aka Stars & Bars by Anchor Hocking Crystal 12.75 inches Vintage
This elegant platter is a big one! Made by Anchor Hocking from 1941 through the 1960's, this pattern is also sometimes called Stars and Bars, but in truth, there is another style with that name and it is different. This pattern is in pressed glass, with three bands that almost look like a clover.
The center features three bars that intersect to form a diamond shape with stemmed diamond patterns around it and the outer section of the platter. The design appears to be cut, but it is pressed into a mold to form the design in the glass. The pattern is pressed into the bottom, where as the top surface is smooth. This platter measures approximately 12.75 inches across. The edges are raised up above the center and a rippled edge enhances the platter...
At the time of listing, I also have the matching 10.5 inch salad bowl as well.
This platter is in excellent condition, which is very unusual for glass of this age. There are some tiny bubbles present in the glass that can be felt on the smooth top surface. This is considered normal and part of the process when glass is made like this. It is also common for the bubbles to burst and feel like little nicks.
There are utensil marks evident, visible when you examine it closely.
Because of it's size and weight, this platter should not be combined in a shipment with anything else.
The shipping fee for the box size would increase dramatically.
