Avalanche Underpass Weather Phenomenon Postcard Colorado
Travel was not easy in those days, and an avalanche such as this one in Ouray, Colorado could prevent passage for days and even months. The congealed snow created by this and similar avalanches is 10 times more dense than new snow. Roadways were usually cleared with pick and shovel, or when possible, a new route was created over the top of the slide.
